Coincidence

I've just started watching conspiracy theory videos in the last week. Yesterday (and today, re-watched) I just finished Michael Moore's Sicko. Last Monday, I think, it was Food for the Future.

Tonight, I caught Mythbusters on Discovery Channel. And the mythbusting "theme": Moon Landing Hoax.

It was the first episode I've seen them "test" a conspiracy theory.

(Their methods and results disappointed me, however. They didn't seem to be testing, but confirming that the moon landing was true. I'm still not convinced that it happened. Sorry, Jamie, Adam, et al. I'm a huge fan, but really not of this particular episode.)

From Typing to Special Effects

I'm a fast typer.
Typist?
Typist.

There we go.

I'm a fast typist. But it's nothing to brag about (there are a lot of better typists out there). I only said that because I was taught by my parents* that typing efficiently was necessary in my future careers. Turned out that it really became very useful.

So, what I did was take our blue typewriter with me to my next door cousin's place, and typed away with a friend (Adrian Callejo) who also brought his own typewriter.

There we went at the front yard: Type, type, type. qwerty, qwerty, qwerty... jkl;... the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog near the bank of the river (or was it "near the river bank"?) several times.
Lots of times.
(And we probably even had some discussion about maybe the fox got stuck in a well with the dog (and a goat?)... and they had to choose who to jump out first by standing on one of the other's back.)

[You have to read this now as if I were whispering:]

And then suddenly one night, when I closed my eyes, I saw keys inside my head, in all the blackness. I found myself looking at them, figuring out where each letter was, if the letter "F" was really beside "G" or maybe it was "J"... and hitting them slowly.
And I said to myself, "Wow... this is great. I can see them in my head. I'm learning without the actual typewriter."[Here I stop whispering] (And I think I laughed a bit. :')

That was maybe when I was around 10. Now, over 15 years later, I still go back to that technique, although I'm finding it more difficult now. While my learning by visualization** back then was spontaneous, now I had to force myself.

Now, I've decided to focus on doing digital visual art: graphics... design... animation, 3D, and special effects stuff, and there are oh, so many buttons and commands, and scripts, and menus, and... whew! on oh, so many programs that I just don't know what to visualize at a certain time.

I guess all I need is focus.***
And, admittedly, more real-time experience.

A lot of times, though, after hours of playing Resident Evil, Starcraft, or Morrowind, images of those wonderful events still lingered in my head. I ran away from Ganados, cast spells, fired lasers, and went ASDW 'till my brain says, "All right, you addict, game's over."****

*My Father was an officer of the Philippine Air Force, and he had to work on a lot of documents; my mother was a teacher-turned-Guidance-Office-Head who obviously was required to work on even way more typed documents.
**I'm sure there's a more precise term for this.
***I'm sort of a jack of all trades, which isn't that good in some cases. Such as this.
****No, it doesn't really say that.

Hitting on political corruption

Philippines -- Former agriculture undersecreteary Jocelyn "Joc Joc" Bolante is being probed today by the Senate for the fertilizer fund scam.

Corruption in politics and economics is akin to using pick-up lines in a bar: The guy exposes himself to rejection with full awareness (supposedly) so that he is ready to be rejected; the politician who pockets public funds (and gives away some for personal gains) is aware that this sort of action can get his sorry @$$ in the dungeon sewers. So he is ready.

I mean, political offenders always have ready alibis for the $#it they dump on us. They have teachers for that: lawyers, political advisers, friendly friends...

Of course it's difficult to cross-examine someone who does not want to tell the truth.

Photobucket sucks

Messed up, huh? Well, it's 'cos Photobucket is messed up. I don't like their service. I have always been abhorred by how images linked to Photobucket always get broken or die.

I'm severing my connections to Photobucket. I won't even post a link of the site here.

[If you're wondering whether I've registered to Photobucket, no. Like I said, a lot of the dead linked images I've seen on the 'Net are mostly of Photobucket.]

Charcoal 2 template edits

Okay, so I downloaded and set up kranthi's Blogger template "Charcoal 2" on mine.

But it's missing the quick edit buttons at the ending of every post (that pencil icon that allows for quick editing of posts when you're logged in at Blogger), and also the three buttons for RSS, Technorati, and Delicious. I liked the three buttons that were present in the Charcoal version 1 template.

So I implemented them here. O.C. style.

5 hours. Hah!

(Actually I did some other simple formatting tweaks (like the Spanish embelishments :'p)... it's still missing a lot of things, but this has got to be enough for now. I've got other things to do!)

All right! I just finished editing my blog look and stuff.

I've fixed the bugs that have, well, bugged me (only a bit) in the last version of kranthi's Charcoal.

So this time, I tried out kranthi's Charcoal 2 template -- also ported from (*based on*) Jinson's Charcoal-2 theme for WordPress -- and found out that it was more "edit friendly", and it had 3 columns which was what I really wanted! (I only discovered it this morning).

Will tell more about it later. Damn, that was 5 hours

(But, hey, being a bit inexperienced with this sort of stuff I'm quite proud of myself. Uh-huh, uh-huh :'p)

Darn. I should have finished a project with that time instead. tsk, tsk, tsk.

Charcoal me blog

For now, I've settled with the blog template by kranthi titled Charcoal. Although it's missing some features that I couldn't figure out how to implement and that bug(?) in the position of the "TOP" hyperlink (which can be found on the lower right portion of every post), for me now it's got the best combination of functionality I'm looking for, great layout and subtle yet catchy visual elements, readability, among other things.

I've hunted for almost two days for a proper one for myself, and this just caught me.
